The City of St. John’s, in partnership with the MMSB and MUN Botanical Garden, are offering free backyard composting information sessions to residents of St. John’s. Unless noted, all sessions take place at the MUN Botanical Garden, 306 Mount Scio Road.

  • Monday, May 23, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, June 2, 3-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 5, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 7, 7-8 p.m., H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, 40 Mundy Pond Road
  • Saturday, June 25, 2-3 p.m.

This year we are offering two different bin types, available for purchase after you attend a session. You can purchase a standard compost bin for the low price of $40, or a tumbler compost bin for $55. Due to high demand we are currently out of tumbler bins but a new shipment will be arriving at the end of May. You can secure a tumbler bin now by paying for it ahead of delivery.

You can attend a free backyard composting information session without registering. If you will be purchasing a bin after the session, cash will be the only method of payment. Receipts will be provided.
