Cruise Ship National Geographic Explorer Arrives September 8

The National Geographic Explorer with 148 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 7a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 and depart at 8 p.m.

Road Construction: September 6 to 9

Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 29 to September 2 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.  Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

• Allandale Road (Pippy Park Golf Club to the end)
• Barkham Street
• Bonaventure Avenue (Howley Avenue to Fleming Street)
• Cadet Road
• Calver Avenue...

Road Closure: Bay Bulls Road

Motorists are advised that Bay Bulls Road (Griffin’s Lane to Connolly’s Lane) and the intersection of Walsh’s Lane will be closed to traffic to facilitate construction works associated with the Goulds Servicing (Phase 2) Sanitary Trunk Sewer project: Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 7 a.m. to Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.

Traffic will NOT be permitted through the construction zone; however, local traffic will have access at both ends of the site.

Closure: Springdale Street

Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed September 2 to 30 to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel.  A traffic detour will be in place.

Labour Day Holiday City Schedule

Due to the Labour Day holiday on Mon. Sept. 5 all City offices and facilities will be closed. The weekly Council meeting will take place on Tues. Sept. 6 at 3 p.m.

Please note:

• Garbage and recycling collection will not occur on Monday, it will be collected on Tues. Sept. 6 along with the regular Tuesday collection. Waste collection time may be later than usual as waste from two areas will be collected.
• Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is closed to residential and commercial users on Labour...
