As kids return to school next week, motorists are reminded to reduce their speed to a maximum of 30 km/hr when driving through school zones in St. Johns.
The following streets are identified as school zones, and the speed limit of 30 km/hr will be in effect on these streets starting on Tuesday, September 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days:

Power’s Road between Back Line and Bidgood Park parking lot will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians on Thursday Sept. 1, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate culvert repairs. Use an alternate route and expect delays.

Motorists are advised that a detour will be in place on Waterford Bridge Road from Road Deluxe to Topsail Road from Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 7 a.m. to Friday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. to facilitate road construction. Flag Persons will be on site during construction.

Due to sewer main repairs the following roads are closed Tuesday, August 30 2022, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
Use an alternate route and expect delays.
Emergency vehicles and local traffic, including those visiting family, friends, businesses in the area will have access, while all through traffic will be detoured.

The eastbound lane on Thorburn Road at the Team Gushue Highway Overpass will be closed 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to 12 noon Wednesday, August 31, 2022 to facilitate construction.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 29 to September 2 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs.
