CANCELLED: Public Hearing - 50 Bennett Avenue

No submissions were received by the deadline date. Therefore, in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, the public hearing was cancelled.

The St. John's Municipal Council adopted St. John’s Municipal Plan Amendment Number 142, 2017, and St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 655, 2017, on August 22, 2017, and hereby gives notice of its intent to seek registration of the amendments from the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act.
 
The effect of the Municipal Plan amendment would be to re-designate a portion of land located at 50 Bennett Avenue from the Institutional Land Use District to the Residential Medium Density Land Use District.
 
The effect of the Development Regulations amendment would be to rezone the same portion of land at 50 Bennett Avenue from the Institutional (INST) Zone to the Residential Medium Density (R2) Zone.
 
The amendments are in reference to a proposed development for 20 townhouses and 58 senior’s apartments at 50 Bennett Avenue, the former I. J. Samson Junior High School site. The proposed senior’s apartments, which will be contained in 9 separate buildings, are deemed a permitted use in the existing INST Zone.
