Wristbands for Outdoor Swims

an arm with a City of St. John's swim wristband

Effective Thursday July 23, 2020 Bannerman and Bowring Park swimming pools will use a wristband system to identify swimmers. All patrons are now required to wear a wristband to enter the pool area at both outdoor pool sites.

Patrons 13 years and older are permitted to swim alone. Patrons under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 19. All patrons must observe appropriate physical distancing measures within the facility. For swim schedules and additional swimming pool rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic go to stjohns.ca.

To receive a wristband, line up on the spray-painted dots in front of the welcome table at the pool. Please observe proper physical distancing practices while waiting in line. It is recommended that one member of each bubble sign the contact tracing form available at the welcome table.

Patrons may receive a wristband 30 minutes before the start of the swim; wristbands are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. One patron may claim a maximum of 5 wristbands per swim. If a patron has not arrived with their wristbands and swimmers by 10 minutes after the start of the swim, they forfeit their place in that swim.

Current capacities under COVID-19 regulations allow for 40 patrons at Bowring Park pool and 35 patrons at Bannerman Park pool. Lane swims will admit 3 swimmers per lane at both Bannerman and Bowring with any space outside of the lanes being filled in accordance with COVID-19 regulations.

We thank you for your continued cooperation during this time.
