Motorists in St. John’s have a new way to pay for parking on Harbour Drive with the launch of PayByPhone’s mobile app. Starting June 11, drivers can use PayByPhone to pay at 136 parking spaces on Harbour Drive.

In addition to providing a simple, cashless way to complete payments, PayByPhone offers several features. The app sends text message reminders prior to your time expiring and allows you to extend a parking session remotely. For visitors to St. John’s, PayByPhone works immediately once downloaded without the need to register for an account.

“Harbour Drive is the first area in the City where we are introducing PaybyPhone,” said Councillor Debbie Hanlon, lead of Transportation. “While motorists will still have the option to pay for other spaces in St. John’s with cash, credit or Park Cards, the parking spaces on Harbour Drive will be PayByPhone exclusive. Once we trial the new service in this section of downtown it will be expanded to other areas of the city during the summer.”

For those who do not want to download the app, the toll-free number to call is 1-866-234-7275.

“PayByPhone now serves people all the way across Canada, from Vancouver to St. John’s.” said Barrie Arnold, Chief Commercial Officer at PayByPhone. “Each city integrates our app in its own unique way. We’re delighted that we have been able to serve the needs of different customers throughout the country.”

PayByPhone is one of the fastest growing mobile payments companies in the world. Through the company's mobile web, smartphone and smartwatch applications, PayByPhone helps millions of consumers easily and securely pay for parking without the hassles of having to carry change or risking costly fines.
