Great Fire Mural for McBride's Hill

announcing Julie Lewis as muralist to commemorate Great Fire on retaining wall at McBride's Hill

Artist Julie Lewis has been selected to design and paint the Great Fire of 1892 commemorative mural at McBride’s Hill in St. John’s.

“I am happy to announce that Julie Lewis is the successful proponent and will begin work on the mural this summer,” said Councillor Sandy Hickman. “Julie was selected by a committee made up of artists and art experts, City staff, and representation from Council.”

Julie Lewis is an animator, artist, studio owner and more.  She has worked as university instructor, portrait artist, digital creative leader, and freelance story boarder to name a few. Her education includes Art Fundamentals Certification, a Classical Animation Diploma, and she is presently working on her Bachelor of Arts at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

The City thanks Benjamin Moore and The Paint Shop who generously donated the paint for the mural.
