City Thanks the Canadian Armed Forces

Members of the military help residents shovel after major snowstorm Jan 17

The City of St. John’s would like to thank the members of the military, including local reservists, as they conclude their mission to help vulnerable St. John’s residents following the unprecedented snowstorm and State of Emergency.

Many vulnerable residents of St. John’s were unable to shovel a safe and clear access to their homes due to the volume of snow. The arrival of the military support provided assistance and much relief to residents during a very difficult and stressful time.

“On behalf of City Council, and residents of St. John’s, I extend my sincere gratitude to all members of the Canadian Armed Forces who played a role in supporting our residents during the recovery from the storm,” said Mayor Danny Breen. “Your presence brought great comfort to many residents during a difficult time. Thank you to your service to our city, province and our country.”
