Bowring Park Public Engagement: What We Heard

Pond side at Bowring Park

During spring 2019 the City of St. John’s engaged with the public to ask ‘What’s Next for Bowring Park?’ Results of the engagement process are now available in a ‘What We Heard’ document at engagestjohns.ca and have been presented to the Bowring Park Foundation.

Public feedback was collected online between May 6 and June 6, 2019, and at several in-person kiosks which were set up at various city facilities during this time. Over 160 visitors actively engaged on the project page online which saw a total of 1,800 visits; and, over 200 people visited the kiosks or engaged in person.

During engagement, residents were asked about improvements they would like to see at the Park, and a survey also asked people specific questions about their experiences in the Park. The top five ideas that emerged from engagement in order of preference were:

  • Provide coffee/food concessions
  • Improve lighting
  • Create/build a trail to Kilbride
  • Build a skating surface
  • Improve the parking lot

Many other ideas and suggestions were also brought forward, and all of these are captured in the What we Heard document.
