Accessibility and the Municipal Election

The City of St. John’s municipal election is Tuesday, September 28. Accessibility and inclusion is an important part of the upcoming election.

In preparation for the election period, staff have consulted with the City’s Inclusion Advisory Committee for advice and direction regarding accessibility.

All elections staff receive inclusion and accessibility orientation for supporting voters who may need assistance, and all election related information and voting kits meet Clear Print Guideline standards.

Upon Request, election information is available in alternate formats (e.g., large print, Braille). Please notify the Election Coordinator by August 31, to allow time for processing your request and distributing materials to you.

Requests for accommodations can be emailed to the Election Coordinator at, or voters may call for 311 or 754-CITY (2489) to be directed to the Election Coordinator.

Satellite Drop off Centers are reviewed for accessibility and have the following considerations in place:

  • Wheelchair accessible
  • ASL interpreters may be requested. One-month advanced notice is appreciated
  • Use of personal assistive devices permitted to mark your ballot (own pen, mobile device, smart phone, reader apps)
