Swim Schedules

Further details of new procedures and requirements to ensure the safety of all facility users and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic are outlined in our Procedures to Keep You Safe document.

Participants are not to arrive any earlier than 10 minutes before the start time of their swim/activity.

Swim schedules are subject to change. To confirm the daily schedule:

Ticket purchase/registration is required for all swims. Registration is available one week at a time and begins 9am on Saturdays for the following week. A RECconnect account is required for ticket purchase/registration. Set up an account and purchase swim tickets at stjohns.ca/RECconnect.

Each swim ticket costs $3. Once swim tickets are purchased the sale is final, refunds or credits will not be provided.

Swim Time Changes and Cancellations

We are unable to transfer patrons to another swim time or provide refunds or credits for missed swims. Once payment is processed online, it is considered a commitment to swim and changes cannot be made. If you do not show up within the first 20 minutes of a swim, your ticket may be considered forfeited.

 

Complimentary Fitness and Swim Passes

We are unable to accept complimentary swim and fitness passes at this time.

Lane Swim (PRCC or Mews Centre)
Choose the appropriate lane - slow, medium or fast - based on ability. Lane swimming is available, maximum of 3 swimmers per lane. Suitable for swimmers over the age of 12. Accessible change rooms, water wheelchairs (PRCC only) and accessible pool entry is available. Please advise if accommodations are required at the time of check in or call ahead.

Bubble / Leisure Swim (PRCC or Mews Centre)
Leisure space is available for families/bubbles. Children 12 and under must always be accompanied in the water by a 19+ year-old who must remain in the water at arms-length. Adults are responsible to ensure physical distancing of those not in your bubble is always maintained. Maximum 3 children to 1 supervisor. Accessible change rooms, water wheelchairs (PRCC only) and accessible pool entry is available. Please advise if accommodations are required at the time of check in or call ahead.

Everyone Welcome Swim (PRCC or Mews Centre)
Leisure space is available for families/bubbles. Children 12 and under must always be accompanied in the water by a 19+ year-old who must remain in the water at arms-length. Adults are responsible to ensure physical distancing of those not in your bubble is always maintained. Maximum 3 children to 1 supervisor. Accessible change rooms, water wheelchairs (PRCC only) and accessible pool entry is available. Please advise if accommodations are required at the time of check in or call ahead.

Pop in Tot
This is a new fun and exciting drop-in swim and play program for parents/caregivers and young children ages 3 months to 3 years. The class takes place in the leisure pool and an instructor is available to provide water safety tips, techniques and lead some fun games for the first 20 mins and then you have time to practice new skills and tips. Come enjoy the water in our safe and friendly environment.

COVID-19 Regulations & Swimming
 
Regulations announced by the provincial government for Alert Level 2 will mean some changes in the way City pools operate:

  • Please note that children 12 years of age and under must always be accompanied by an adult supervisor (19+).  
  • To allow as many people as possible to access the pool during the day, patrons are asked to be prepared to get in and out of the water quickly and leave the site immediately after exiting the water. 
  • Pre-registration is recommended or required for indoor facilities.  
  • Swimmers will be expected to stay within their bubble during a swim and keep a physical distance of at least 6 feet away from others not in your bubble in the water, on the deck, shower and washroom areas.  
  • Washrooms are available at all pools. Change stalls and lockers will be available but limited at indoor pools. Space is available on the pool deck for personal belongings. Staff are unable to hold belongings for you, so do not bring valuables with you.   
  • Showers are to be taken prior to getting in the water as required in the Public Pool regulations.
  • Patrons may bring their own lifejackets, kickboards, flippers, hand-paddles, and pull-buoys.  These items are not to be shared with anyone outside your personal bubble. Please do NOT bring any floats or inflatables to the pool, they will be denied.    
  • Accessible change rooms, water wheelchairs and accessible pool entry is available. Please advise if accommodations are required at the time of check in or call ahead. Staff will clean any accessible equipment after each use. Patrons who require assistance must wear a mask while less than 6 feet / 2 meters from staff.  Masks are to be removed as soon as the swimmer enters the water.  
  • The tot/wading pool and waterslide are unavailable at Bowring Park Pool until further notice.
  • Waterslides and play structures are only available suring Everyone Welcome and Birthday Party timeslots..
  • Diving boards are available.
  • Rental space is very limited.Please call 576-8623 to inquire about renting a pool.
  • Limited swimming birthday party spaces are available at Mews and Paul Reynolds. Please call 709-576-8499 / 576-8631 to book.
  • Please keep a physical distance of at least 6 feet (2 meters) from our lifeguard staff when possible. Our lifeguards are still rescue ready and willing to help you as always. If physical distancing cannot be maintained, our lifeguards are trained to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • Masks are mandatory
