The City of St. John's offers a wide range of fitness opportunities for people who are looking to live a healthy, active lifestyle. Drop in and registered programs are offered by qualified instructors.

Course Name Description
Beginner Yoga This class is recommended for the beginning student of any age and fitness level. Learn a solid foundation of yoga poses plus the awareness to develop and informed, safe and precise yoga practice.
Intermediate Yoga This class teaches you how to improve upon the postures learned in beginner yoga and in addition learn more challenging postures.  Beginner Yoga is required.
Power Yoga Power Yoga is a challenging and vigourous class that builds strength and flexibility through a series of inter-linking and challenging movements. This class is designed for participants with several years of intermediate yoga practice behind them.
Mixed Yoga This class is designed for beginners and intermediates to work side by side practising solid fundamentals to increase strength, flexibility and endurance. Modifications will be introduced allowing beginners to work at their own level. 
Relaxation Yoga A comprehensive Yoga class that includes both Meditative Hatha & Yin Yoga.  Learn & pratice skills that can help deal with stress as you improve your engery, strength, flexibility & for many - a better nights sleep!  Suitable for both beginners & those with prior yoga experience.  You will need to bring a yoga mat & blanket.
Yin Yoga Yin Yoga is a quiet, introspective practice, which seeks to improve flexibility and circulation in the joints by applying moderate stress to the connective tissues (ligaments, tendons and fascia), mainly in the mid to lower body. Yin practice is suitable for all levels and does not require previous yoga experience.
Shallow Water Fitness A low impact but high intensity water aerobics class where no swimming skills are needed. This class is designed to improve flexibility, range of motion, strength, muscle tone and cardo vascular endurance while using the resistance of the water to cushion the feet, knees and back. Exercises are performed to lively, motivating music and are effective and easy to follow.
Deep Water Fitness No impact workout which emphasizes cardio vascular strength and endurance as well as flexibility, range of motion and core strength. Classes are held in the deeper water of the pool and participants can use a flotation belt if desired. This class is great for anyone looking to improve their cardio, joint movement or simply improve muscular strength. Regardless of your age, size or fitness level, deep water fitness can help you achieve your fitness goals. No swimming skills are needed, however a comfort in deep water is suggested.
Adults in Motion This class is designed for the entire body to get up, get out and get moving. It is strength training with low impact in a great social atmosphere. This class is primarily for those new to fitness, looking to meet others, retired or their own age with a common goal of wellness.
Body Bars & Dumb Bells This is a total body conditioning class that involves both strength and endurance training. Set to upbeat music, this fitness class is designed to challenge each participant major muscles groups in a variety of ways. The instructors will utilize a mix of Body Bars and Dumbbells to create a unique fitness challenge. This class is suited for a beginner to a fitness fanatic - as you set your own bar for how hard you want to push!
Core Balance This is designed to strengthen and develop the muscle groups of the core and lower back.  Utilizing body weights and light hand weights, this class provides a well rounded workout for participants of all levels. Concludes with a ten-minute stretch and relax segment.
Cardio Pump This is designed to give participants a well-rounded workout. With the use of dumbbells, body bars, skipping ropes, balance balls, bands, steps and much more, this class will be fun and challenging for all. This class will benefit all fitness levels as modifications will be given to include all fitness levels.
Zumba The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one of a kind fitness program that will get you moving. This party like atmosphere is fun and energizing, come try it out for yourself.
