The City of St. John's thinks families are fantastic and provides a variety of opportunities for different types of families. Some of the programs you must pre-register and others are drop in. Many of our family activities are special events, where families of all ages can spend time 'playing' and being active together

MOVE IT
Get outside and MOVE IT with the whole family! City staff will be on site to get you moving with a number of FUN activities for everyone in the family regardless of age or ability - plus it's FREE.

Sunday FUNday!   (Drop In Program)
A fun filled family afternoon with games and activities for family members of all abilities from tot to grandparent. Recreation staff will be on site to encourage FUNdamental movement skills and physical literacy through active free play.

Healthy Families
Healthy communities start with healthy families. The topic and discussion will appeal to adults and teens, while children engage in active play led by our HIGH FIVEⓇ certified leaders.

National Family Week

Kick off National Family Week with Fall Outdoor Adventure event at Rotary Park. 

Fall Outdoor Adventure
Families of all ages and abilities can hike the trails, try archery, hut construction, orienteering, games and sand play- all for free! This event is weather dependent.

Family & Friends Learn To Knit

Family and friends can spend quality time together while learning to knit (6 weeks sessions). Children 10 to 13 must register and be accompained by an adult. Supplies for the first two classes are included in the price. Register here.

Family & Friends Sit and Knit
Get together to knit, share ideas, patterns, and chat with your family and friends. Children ages 10-13 years must be accompanied by an adult. Bring along your current knitting projects and anything you wish to share to our monthly drop in sessions.

Get togeter for an evening with families and friends to design a photo page. Please being your favorite photos to build your own special page (based on a theme or vacation) to rame or add to your scrapebook.  Children ages 10-13 must be registered separetely and accompanied by an adult. Supplies included to make one page each.

National Child Week Activities: 'Celebrate Kids!'

The City of St. John's Division of Recreation recognizes National Child Day and celebrates the rights of children throughout the second week of November with activities for children and their families.
