The City of St. John’s and NL Health Services are accepting applications for their new Healthy City Advisory Committee.
This Advisory Committee will take a collective impact approach involving leaders from various disciplines, sectors, and levels of Government working together to improve the social, economic, and environmental conditions that affect health and quality of life.
The role of the committee is to discuss community health and quality of life issues and provide leadership, guidance, and support for evidence-based decision-making on the actions of the Healthy City Strategy. The committee will be co-chaired by City of St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen and Dr. Nazlee Ogunyemi, Medical Officer of Health, Public Health, NL Health Services.
“We are delighted to come together with NL Health Services to create this committee to support our Healthy City Strategy and initiatives,” said Mayor Danny Breen. “Working together we can realize our vision to be a City where people thrive.”
Potential members must hold positions in a decision-making role within their own organizations (including non-profits, government departments, academic institutions, etc.), representing any one of the disciplines from the identified ‘Healthy City Assets’:
“The Healthy City Strategy aims to foster community well-being and address the complex factors that shape health outcomes,” said Dr. Nazlee Ogunyemi. "NL Health Services is pleased to collaborate with the City of St. John’s and the Healthy City Advisory Committee on this important work. We are eager to listen to the feedback offered by the Advisory Committee members as we move the strategy forward.”
Interested organizations are invited to review the committee’s Terms of Reference, complete an online application form and provide supporting documentation for consideration.
The deadline for submission of applications has been extended to Friday, May 17, 2024. If applicants require alternate formats of the application or assistance, please contact the Office of the City Clerk at cityclerk@stjohns.ca.
