GoBus: Accessible Transit

GoBus Accessible Transit is the St. John's area para-transit system. GoBus provide persons with disabilities and those who are unable to access conventional transit equal access to a transportation system.

Metrobus: Public Transit

Metrobus is the public bus system which operates throughout St. John's and the City of Mount Pearl. 

The cash fare for one adult is $2.50. Exact change is required. 

M-Cards (monthly, semester or multiple ride passes) can be purchased at various locations throughout the City including:

• the Metrobus Transit Centre at 25 Messenger Drive
• St. John's City Hall (Access St. John's) 10 New Gower Street
• Avalon Mall, Kenmount Road
• online

All low-floor Metrobuses offer free wi-fi.

Motor vehicles

To operate a vehicle within the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador all individuals are required to have a valid provincial driver's license and to have their vehicle registered. It is mandatory that motor vehicle operators wear seatbelts, provide an infant car seat or booster seat for children under the age of nine, and have car insurance for their vehicles.

If you need assistance with learning how to drive, St. John's has several driving schools that will train you in proper driving techniques. These driving schools may also offer the incentive of a reduced car insurance rate upon successful completion of the course.

Taxis

St. John's has several taxi companies operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Taxi meter rates start at $3.75. It is best to telephone for a taxi. You can request a non-smoking taxi if you prefer. Some taxis offer child car seats upon request. All taxis operating in the City are licensed and inspected by the City of St. John's.

Vehicle rentals

St. John's has a number of car rental agencies. If you are considering renting a vehicle, it is wise to book in advance particularly in the summer season when rental vehicles are in high demand. The Turo car sharing service is also available.
