There are a number of options available to pay your tax bill.
Credit card payments are not accepted for payment of taxes (realty tax, water tax, utility tax, accommodation tax, etc.). They are accepted for all other levies and fees.
To avoid late payment interest charges, please ensure you allow sufficient time for your payment to reach us by the due date on your bill.

Online payment (financial institutions) |
Municipal Tax bills (realty & water) are payable at most major financial institutions. Ensure enough time for the City to receive payment by the due date. You may make payments on your municipal tax account by registering the City of St. John's as a payee through your bank account either online or by phone. It will help to have a recent bill handy as you will need the property's account number to register. When you are prompted, enter the account number. Use your tax bill to find the number and enter all the digits. As some of the banks have "St. John's" set up differently as a payee, we have provided a payee list below for some of the major banks:
If you require assistance, please contact your financial institution. |
Mortgage |
Municipal Taxes (realty & water) may be included with your mortgage payment. If this is your payment option, the bank will receive your bill and pay your taxes on your behalf by the due date. |
