Tax bills that are outstanding past the due date indicated on the bill are charged interest at a rate of 1.25% per month compounded monthly.
City Tax Collection Efforts
Our tax collectors work with those in arrears to develop suitable payment arrangements. We use a variety means during the collection process including:
- phone calls
- collection letters
- Statement of Claim
- water discontinuation
- Referral to outside collection agency
- Tax sale (the City can only sell nonowner-occupied properties)
When a municipal tax account is delinquent due to substantial financial hardship, the property owner can apply to the Payment Review Board for special consideration.
Tax amounts owning
The City discloses the tax amounts owing as of December 31 each year.
