Are you having plumbing work done on your property? Did you know... You need a Licensed Plumbing Contractor for this work?
Permits for all plumbing can only be issued to plumbing contractors. The City licenses contractors who hire Journeymen Plumbers with a least two years of experience and interprovincial qualifications.
Complete the applications required to obtain a Plumbing Contractor's License or a Plumbing Journeyman's License from the City. Then complete a plumbing permit application for the property where the work will be completed.
We cannot give a property owner a plumbing permit. But remember, you are responsible:
Plumbing Inspection staff carry out inspections to ensure compliance work complies with the City of St. John's Plumbing By-Law and the National Plumbing Code.
The by-law sets minimum standards for plumbing system design and installation. It applies to all residential, commercial and industrial properties. The goal is to protect public health.
Inspections happen at various stages. They check on progress in new construction and they also check on repairs and renovation in existing buildings.
Our staff are here to help. Contact the Permit Counter.
